I love your videos! I watched both of them today because I somehow missed last week's. The pure destruction to your journal is fantastic!
The burning scared me too but I made sure I burned the journal near the sink. LOL I am 40 so I just passed the age limit for supervision! :)
Your grandfather's book is very fascinating and it's awesome that you're writing his story! I look forward to hearing more about it :)
I agree with you. This journey is about overcoming inhibitions and, as Jamie says, attachment. In over coming those, we create more freely :)
Your video is wonderful! Thanks for the tip about being careful with fire if you are under 37. LOL! I haven't set fire to my journal yet, however, inspired by the journal, my husband, stepson and I set fire to the baseball scorebook at the end of the season a few nights ago.
Thank you for sharing your wrecked book in which you are writing your grandfather's story. That is a wonderful idea!
Happy wrecking!
I really enjoyed your video and your grandfather's journal. Good for you translating his story! I'll be interested in hearing more. Meanwhile,
here's to wrecking!
i think you are right, this adventure is about stepping out of our confort zones, not as much about destruction. i see it as trying new things, doing things that i normally wouldn't take the time to do, or think that it's only for my kids to do.
Lisa! You cracked me up! I laughed out loud -- My husband also called my book part one and part two -- lordie! I'm so glad you didn't set your house on fire!! You're so sweet, I love You!
I have books from a great uncle who was also an avid reader of fiction and non-fiction. He has notes in all the margins questioning things, ideas, carrying the thought further, underlines -- ever since I've done the same with books. It's a form of inter-acting with the author and the ideas.
I learned last week it wasn't about destroying, rather what you and Alex have expressed!
love!
I loved your video :) Thanks for posting it. I only burned a tiny piece of the page because it got out of hand so quickly.
I have to say Thank You - I loved one of the watercolors you have on your Etsy page, so I copied it onto the inside cover of my WTJ. Well...I wouldn't say I copied it, I'd say I gave my interpretation of it. I'll show it next week for week 4. Thanks!!
Loved your Grandfather's journal! Don't be embarassed about your journal! I would love to see the damage you did to it...
Your Grandfather's legacy is amazing! What an inspiration!
What a great video!! I'm sorry about your fire mishap, but don't feel embarrassed!
I loved seeing your adorable kitty. And your grandfather's journal is amazing! What a treasure!
Oh Lisa you are inspiring. I love the challenge you have given us.
The idea of leaving a legacy of words and thoughts and pictures never really dawned on me. That my children who are now all in their 20s or future grandchildren would find my work and want to make something of it really made me think - that I would like to have something for them to have in memory. This journal may not be the vehicle but adding my thoughts to it has great value.
Thank you.
Wow, how cool that your grandfather can serve as wrecking/creating inspiration on so many levels. And I'm reading this on Father's Day, so that seems particularly special and cool.
It was great to meet Wiener too :)
Your grandfather's journal is amazing and inspiring!! Thank you for sharing it with us!! And for introducing Wiener!!
Hey Lisa, so lovely meeting you on Saturday! I will check out more of your work and send you an interview for my blog (www.notpaper.net) if you're interested (I think you said you were!)
Best, and I'm sure I will see you around,
Aprile
: )
What a fabulous project to translate! (Maybe eventually you will come across directions for using fire in it?) I appreciate your thoughtful comments/questions about what is "good" and the tension between creating/growing and destruction. Looking forward to next week!!
Lisa, this is the first WTJ video of yours i'm watching, and it's great! "supervision under 37" made me giggle...and hearing you talk about your grandfather brought tears to my eyes. Inspirational all around!
Wreck on,
WRO
wonderful Lisa.. I have 200 letters that my Grandfather wrote to his oldest child who was sent away to be educated.. heartbreking, informative, soul searching.. his story of life in Northern Bohemia, to USA at 17 and the disappointments and trial of life from 1905 to 1948. HE documented every thing going on the the town here he helped establish, all the gossip and family trauma. its so unbelievebly emotional// ALL of you are so inspiring
