Working till late, originally uploaded by girlcancreate.
I was up last night until midnight working on my set of collages. As the house breathed, I focused in on the act of creation. Putting together word with image together to create a story in my mind's eye is the most wonderful work.
I have been having moments of pure joy contrasted with moments of absolute fear that people will not like my work.
And yet, i have a deep seated feeling of pride. Not of the actual work, but of the act of having an art show.
When i work with creativity clients, one of their main concerns is others. But what if they don't like it? And now i hear my response to them is the same one i am reminded myself of.
Art isn't about other people liking it. Yes, it would be great if they did, but at the heart of it, art is about expression. As an artist we must execute that expression to the best of our ability.
And as my grandmother used to say, if they don't look, tell them to look away!
I say, if they don't like, it's okay, there always is someone who will.
